Lighthouse Fellowship:
Foundation Statements & Core Values

Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.”
- Matthew 7:24

The Mission of Lighthouse Fellowship is:
“To Follow the light of Jesus Christ and become a beacon of His light for others.”

Lighthouse Fellowship's foundation is built upon the following two scriptures:

Matthew 28:18-20
Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations {evangelism}, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit {fellowship}, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you {discipleship}. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."  NIV

 Matthew 22:37-40
37Jesus replied: ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. {worship}'   38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself {missions}’  40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”  NIV

We believe a great commitment to the Great Commandment and the Great Commission will grow a great church!

To fulfill our mission, we, as followers of Jesus, are committed to the following:
Love for those who don’t know Jesus. (Evangelism)
God wants everyone saved and counts on us to join in this effort. Jesus is the way of salvation - not Mohammed, or Allah or…? We care about the lost because of how strongly God feels about them, and because we once were lost. See: 1 Timothy 2:1-7; John 14:5; Luke 15
Intentional development of my relationship with Jesus. (Discipleship)
Through the development of Godly habits including Bible study, prayer, and the practice of personal holiness. By giving up destructive emotional and physical habits, and recognizing how I live demonstrates my relationship. See: Ephesians 4:25-32; 1 Corinthians 6:18-20; Ephesians 5:15-18; Romans 12:2; Philippians 4:8
Giving 10% of my financial resources for the growth of God’s kingdom.
Tithing is the standard, recognizing that we can’t serve two masters, and that we need to be content with what we have. See: Malachi 3:7-12; Matthew 6:24; Luke 3:12-14
Holy Spirit-led living which produces the fruit of the Spirit, and the desire to use the spiritual gifts God has given me.
Listening to the witnessing, teaching and reminding that the Holy Spirit gives us - to Jesus. The Spirit shows us the deep things of God, and is evidenced through the fruit of the Spirit and the use of gifts that are unique to the individual for the purpose of building the body. Being baptized in the Spirit has to do with our openness to and focus on God.  See: John 15:26; John 14:26; John 16:8; 1 Corinthians 2:10; Galatians 5:22-23; 1 Corinthians. 12:7-10; Romans 12:3-8; Acts 1:5
Thanking God in the way I live my life daily, and joining my sisters and brothers in weekly thanksgiving. (Worship)
Only through our brokenness can we see our need for God, and that He is the only one who can repair the broken. Expressing our love for God is the heart of worship. It is the daily source of our happiness, is the fundamental purpose for our existence, and is to be our lifestyle. It builds a stronger body of believers, is about giving back to Him. See: Psalm 51:7; Revelation 4:11; Mark 12:30; Proverbs 23:7; Hebrews 10:25
Hospitality expressed to all people inside and outside the church, showing them I care because Jesus cares for me. (Fellowship)
By caring for all people, inside and outside the church, we send a message that being God’s children means they are a part of a family. Fellowship is the Biblical word that describes loving each other. It shows others that we are a part of a team. Show hospitality on Sundays and every other day. See: Hebrews 2:10; Ephesians 1:5; 1 John 4:21; Ephesians 2:19
Outfitting our lives for living through involvement in a Discovery Group.
Central to the New Testament church were regular meetings in homes in which they studied the apostle’s teachings, fellowshipped, prayed, and shared food. This resulted in awe, miraculous signs, commonality, sacrifice for need, and daily growth of the family.  See: Acts 2:42-47; Proverbs 27:17; 1 Peter 4:9; Galatians 6:2
Unselfish commitment to the spiritual, emotional and intellectual development of children and youth.
Because Jesus valued them, we are to be like them; and because if we don’t look out for them, we will have 50 lb. stones attached to us and be thrown into the sea. He made us children to help other people become His kids too, because they are our legacy. See: Mark 10:13-16; Matthew 18:1-6; Romans 8:14
Service to those inside and outside the church. (Missions)
We are created to contribute, not just to consume; not sit, but serve. When we serve others we serve God; it is a central way the community learns about who we are. See: Ephesians 2:10; Matthew 20:28; Matthew 25:21
Excellence in the things I do to aid in the development of a culturally relevant body of believers based on the Bible.
The Bible is our foundation and contains all that is necessary for salvation; excellence in what we do displays our love for God; maintaining cultural relevance keeps our mission field open. See: 2 Timothy 3:16; 1 Corinthians 14:33; James 3:16; 1 Corinthians 13; 1 Corinthians 9:19-20
Our Purpose: To follow the light of Jesus Christ and become a beacon of His light for others.
