The Northside Inter-Church Agency (NICA) is a non-profit agency that provides various services to homeless, low-income retired or disabled clients and working poor families of Northwest Tarrant County. Many of the clients live in the zip codes reflected in our church attendees. NICA was founded in 1969 by a collaboration of churches including Methodists, Presbyterians, Disciples of Christ, Baptists, and Catholics, with the intention of creating an outreach in the Fort Worth community that would help neighbors help themselves and each other. In 1977, the agency incorporated and received its tax-exempt status. NICA joined the Tarrant County Food Bank in 1982. NICA relies heavily on grants and donations for its financing, with ninety-six percent of its budget spent on client services. NICA has continued to evolve and now provides many services to NW Tarrant County residents. Lighthouse Fellowship’s Missions Team has an active outreach ministry through NICA.

NICA relies on volunteers working both behind the scenes and directly with clients. Some examples include food deliveries, computer maintenance, yard work, literacy training, working in the thrift store or food pantry, and data entry for the organization. Lighthouse Fellowship volunteers often lend a hand in these tasks.
