2010 Mexico Mission Report
Marshall Sansbury and a group of volunteers from Lighthosue Fellowship traveled to Casa Hogar La Familia, Palamerito, Mexico in August. Following is his report:
"Seven of us, ready at the airport bright and early Sunday morning waiting to get on the plane to Mexico City , then on to Tecamachalco by bus. That’s where we would be staying while on the mission trip to the children's home. I thought about all the many trips by Lighthouse before this one, different faces but all the same hearts. Going to voluntarily be out of their comfort Zone for eight days. I wished that they could all understand right away what this trip would mean to the children at La Familia. Maybe that might make them feel Angels and the Holy Spirit traveling with them." >> Read more

Prayer Walk the Schools
Some of the signup sheets for the prayer walk were misplaced. So please let Joan Hughes know which schools you prayer walked. Joan will write a note to the principal so they will know their school was prayed for this fall. Some of you may not have done the walk yet, please do so anytime between now and September 6. Because of the extreme heat, feel free to drive instead of walk. Click here for a guide for prayer walking if you would like to use it.

Stephen Ministry – What is it and why would I be interested?
We will have an informal Q&A session after church on September 12, Room 131 at 12:45pm. You can learn more about the Stephen Ministry. Questions will be answered and you can chat with the current ministers. What exactly is Stephen Ministry? Who is involved? What do Stephen Ministers do? Are Stephen Ministers Counselors? Can I trust a Stephen Minister? Why the name Stephen? What is the Pastor’s role? Where did it all start? How can someone receive care from a Stephen Minister? How much does it cost? How can someone become a Stephen Minister?
If you feel a calling to help people in need by listening, supporting, and most of all letting those who are hurting know that there is someone who cares, please come by on September 12. A formal interest meeting will be held on Thursday, September 16 at 6:30, where we will discuss the Stephen Ministry training more in depth. For more information, contact Cindy Bozarth, Kris Briggs, Jan Snyder, or Linda Anderson (all trained Stephen Ministry Leaders).

Helping the Youth
Calling all church members!!! The teens need your help!! As we’re looking to start this new chapter in the life of our Student Ministries, we’re in GREAT need of some people in our church that have a heart for teenagers. Whether you have teenagers/children or not, have training or not, if you feel called to be used by God to change the life of a student in our youth program, please let us know so we can get you plugged in. God has BIG plans for the teenagers in this church and God might be waiting to change their lives because He needs you to be there and be used by him, so contact J R Belcher if you’re interested in helping to change our youth program, one teen at a time!

Faith in Action is Coming!!!
Faith in Action Sunday will be here before we know it. On Sunday Oct 24, 2010, we will have one very short church service at 9:00 am, after which the church will “take it to the streets” and BE the church in the community. We will reach out to our community by performing acts of Christian love and service. Get together with your Neighborhood Group, your Sunday School Class, or any group of friends, and look around your neighborhood, identify a need, and make preparations to address that need on Faith in Action Sunday, Oct 24. Don’t miss this event – you will touch others’ lives and you will be blessed.
If you want to define your own mission effort or have any questions, you click here for additional info or contact Jack Specht at 817-996-2510 or get more information at the Missions Table in HeBrews. |
